Your Generosity is Changing Lives
As we faced uncertain economic times last year, we at The Memorial Foundation devoted ourselves to critical work in
key areas – Children’s Village expansion, development of the residential hospice care facility and at the same time continued to support programs you told us were important to you: cancer care, a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), patient emergency funds, children’s and family health, staff education and training and many others.
For those of us who can help; we must.
Children’s Village is literally bursting at the seams, suffering waiting lists of 6 to 9 months. But deeply committed
to serving every child with special health and developmental needs in our Valley. Although services at Children’s Village reach thousands of families in the Valley, many more are in need. "We can do better," Diane Patterson, director of Children’s Village said. "We need to continue to grow to adequately respond to the needs of families." From 999 children crossing the bridge in 1997, to over 3,600 served last year and a projection of more than 7,000 children and families needing services over the next ten years, the need is great. We will make a difference in the lives of these special children .
As the need for hospice continues to grow in our Valley, we’re raising the funds to build Yakima County’s frst, long-awaited hospice care facility, Cottage in the Meadow, combining the comforts of home-like surroundings with the assurance of quality care – 24 hours a day. This 12-bed facility is a greatly needed service for families. We will need heroes to make it a reality.
The great paradox, when the economy goes down, charitable giving is more needed than ever. We value the trust you place in us as we continue to respond to the many needs before us. We are guardedly optimistic about our capital campaigns moving forward. Please join us. There is hope.
