Kel McPhee, A Legacy of Love

For generations, the McPhee family of Naches has been synonymous with farming. They have been connected both to the land and to their community. So it was no surprise to Beverly McPhee when her son, Kel, while battling cancer, asked that all of his worldly possessions be sold and the proceeds donated to North Star Lodge. Beverly says Kel was always very appreciative of the caring and professional cancer treatment he received at North Star Lodge.

"Kel was a very giving, loving person who would do anything to help. When he knew he was dying, he wanted to give something back. This was his wish, and this gift carries on the kind of person he always was," says Beverly.

The money raised from Kel's belongings now serves many families through North Star Lodge's Emergency Fund. Patients with expenses not covered by insurance receive help from this special fund. "The McPhee family was like a gift from heaven. It meant so much to her to give to the Emergency Fund to help others in need. She means so much to us," says Anne Caffery, President/CEO of The Memorial Foundation.

The staff at North Star Lodge is humbled by this incredible gift, and the gifts of so many who make a difference every day.
