The Stewart Family, Healthy Happy Kids
The excitement of expecting triplets quickly turned frightening when Heather and her husband, Lon, found out one of the babies was having complications. Ten weeks before her due date, baby Emma was born, weighing a mere three pounds. Clinging to life, Emma was rushed to Memorial's NICU while doctors used a unique procedure to stop Heather's labor, allowing the boys to stay safely inside Mom's womb for another five weeks.
Cade and Jake safely came into the world a month and a half later. "The NICU staff was absolutely incredible," explains Heather. "They made it easier for all of us." Luckily, the Stewarts didn't have to leave Yakima to get the quality health care they deserved. Now five years later, the triplets, along with 3-year old sister Lily are at the top of their growth scales. From Memorial's NICU-to typical, healthy, rambunctious kids-miracles like these happen every day at Memorial.
