Miracles Happen at Memorial
Your generous donations are the reason we're able to serve so many in Central Washington with special health care needs, cancer patients, and families dealing with end-of-life hospice and bereavement issues. Here is a sampling of the many people and families who have been helped through The Memorial Foundation.
Lori England, Cancer Survivor
One night in December 2001, Lori England had trouble sleeping. When she discovered a lump in her breast, she thought she was dreaming. When it was there the next morning, she called her doctor. After a series of visits, she had a biopsy and was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. When Lori walked into North Star Lodge, she instantly felt calm and knew she wanted her treatment here. Taylor Garent, Miracle Child
His tender heart and terrific sense of humor make six-year-old Taylor Garent a favorite with his classmates. But it's his courage as a cancer survivor that sets him apart as a truly remarkable child. After fighting what appeared to be a stubborn ear infection, doctors referred Taylor to a specialist. A muscular tumor that had originated in his jaw was quickly growing into his ear and the lining of his brain. (more...)

Magic Metals Works Magic for Kids
After a suggestion from their son and a tour of Children's Village, Garry and Vera Griggs, the owners of Magic Metals, were committed to making a difference in our community. The Griggs credit their employees with making their business so successful. They're giving back to Yakima through Children's Village and the YouthWorks program. (more...)

Kel McPhee, A Legacy of Love
Kel McPhee was very appreciative of the caring and professional cancer treatment he received at North Star Lodge. He chose to leave his Legacy of Love so that others battling cancer would have access to a patient emergency fund to help pay for the many treatment-related expenses not covered by insurance. Carlee Ritch, Great Things Come in Small Packages
When 9-year-old Carlee Ritch was three, her doctors diagnosed her with Turner's Syndrome. Turner's has given Carlee a set of physical and learning challenges that this very curious, friendly, philosophical girl meets with a smile and a "can do" spunk.. Carlee and her 6-year-old brother, Tanner, have been going to Children's Village for as long as they can remember. (more...)

The Stewart Family
Children's Miracle Network programs touch the lives of thousands of children and families throughout our region-families like the Stewarts of Toppenish. The excitement of expecting triplets quickly turned frightening when Heather and her husband, Lon, found out one of the babies was having complications. (more...)

Stickle Family, Angels of Hospice Helped Family
The Stickle Family's time with wife and mom Candy was cut short when she passed away in the prime of her life. As the family struggled through a very difficult last week, hospice was there to help them get through it as a family. The angels of hospice supported Candy and her caregivers. The Stickles are very grateful to The Memorial Foundation for supporting such an important program. (more...)
